Some of the upcoming events here at the Post in May are, the Post is hosting the 3rd District meeting on the 3rd at 1:00 pm. Please attend if you can. We are having the Post memorial service on the 21st at 6:00 in the hall. The Memorial Day services on the 25th are at the Powerhouse at 8:45, Court House at 9:00 and Oakridge cemetery at 11:00 with ham & beans and cornbread after the service. Please attend if you can.

I want to thank all our volunteers here at the Post for their help.

We need to continue to remember all our veterans and families.

I hope everyone keeps doing okay.

That’s all for now. Watch for more events here at the Post.

Your Commander:
George Buckmaster

P.S. Post meetings are now at 4:00 pm on the 2nd Wednesday each month. Please attend if you can!

Adjutant’s Notes

Greetings and Salutation’s my fine unfettered friends. Here’s to hoping the great spring weather continues. If you haven’t been to the V lately, stop by and look at the “new” floors. We had them stripped and waxed and they look great. A head’s up thing, PLEASE come to the District-3 meeting at the Post on Sunday, 3 May, 1 PM. Since we’re hosting it, we’d really like to see all the officer’s there and as many of our members as possible. Heck, it’s only an hour+ of your time, and there’s food too! (a big plus to me)

Just as a reminder, May is full of Veteran’s events going on. Sunday, 10 May is Mother’s Day. A happy Mom’s day to all of our mothers out there in VFW-land (from your FAV son…). Fri, 15 May is Peace Officer Memorial Day, stop and say a prayer for our Police. Sat, 16 May is Armed Forces Day. Thurs, 21 May is our An-nual Post Memorial Service. Please stop by and remember all of our brothers and sisters who have passed in the last year. Mon, 25 May is Memorial Day. Please re-member to say a prayer as we grill out for our fallen. Also, there are three (3) ser-vices and a parade. 0845 ceremony at the Tailgates to the Millrace. 0900 ceremony at the Goshen Courthouse. The parade forms up in front of the GPD afterwards, and steps off at 1015. It’ll go from the GPD north on Main to Pike, then west on Pike to 1st St. Then north on 1st St to Oakridge Cemetery; where there will be a cer-emony there too. Afterwards, everybody is invited back to the V for lunch.

We also have some cool stuff going on in June. Sat, 13 Jun is the Military Stand-down at Oxbow Park, 11 AM to 3 PM. Sat, 20 Jun is the Battle of the Bands, a fundraiser. Please stop by and have a great time (it always is…). Sun, 21 Jun is Father’s Day. A great day to let dad grill out and enjoy the sun and charcoal. Our Post Chaplain Wayne Hawn, host’s a bible study the 3rd Tuesday of the month. I’m sure all of you (not me of course) could use a little “church’n up”.

Whew, that was a lot. Also, if a few people could step-up to the plate and help out w/Bingo, they’d sure appreciate it. Even if you could help out one (1) Friday a month.

As for Trivia this newsletter. On the TV show Emergency. 1) Was there a “real” fireman on the TV show? And 2) Was there a “real” fireman on the TV show?

As always, your Adj, Jeff

Chaplain’s Corner

It seems that we are often anxiously look to the change of season and look to what is ahead of us. As we look forward lets also look after one another and take time to help those around us that may be suffering silently with issues that they are afraid to speak for the fear of appearing vulnerable. There are times that we are all vulnerable and would love to have someone sit and listen without judgement or judgement. I pray that we all would be that someone who cares. I would like to be that person as well, so if you see me at the VFW or even on the street, I will make time for to talk with you.

If you would like to learn more about the bible and enjoy fellowship with other vets and fami-ly, I encourage you to join us every 3rd Tuesday at 5:30 for a bible study here at the VFW.

May GOD bless
Chaplain Wayne
