Commanderโs Notes
Greetings:
This summer so far has been anything but normal with some hot days, lots of rain, some severe weather and some cool mornings. I hope everyone is trying to stay healthy and is doing okay.
Not a lot is going on at the Post right now but keep watching for upcoming events as summer continues.
We need to continue to remember all our veterans and their families wherever they are serving or have served.
I continue to thank all our volunteers here at the Post and all those that come in to the Post. We continue to have some good food and drink specials during the week, so come in and try some.
Have a great 4th of July and Happy 250th Birthday to our country.
Well that is all for now. God Bless America!
Your Commander:
George Buckmaster
P.S. Post meetings are now at 4:00 pm on the 2nd Wednesday each month. Please attend if you can!
Adjutantโs Notes
Hey, itโs kinda nice weather!
Lol, I think fall has come early, as of this writing. I hope everybody came to the V for the Battle of the Bands and had a fantastic time. I know I did, and I had to work it. I also wanted to give a big thanks to Alyena and Bo, who worked like dogs to make it great.
For upcoming events, Iโd be remiss if I didnโt mention the 4th of July. Sun, July 12 is D-3 in LaPorte at 1 PM EST. Please attend.
The Elkhart County 4-H Fair is coming the last week of July. Remember Veterans Day is a free day for us. Go and have a great time. There is also an opening ceremony, Hall of Heroes, on Saturday, July 25. I donโt remember the time, but I was leaning towards 9 or 10 AM.
For August, weโll have our normal food specials; always a good time at the V.
Please donโt forget the Auxiliary Golf Outing on Saturday, August 29. Itโs a fundraiser for our Auxiliary and the Post overall. Aside from that, hey, itโs a fantastic time with some very cool people. Iโll have Team Air Guard coming up again. Come and say โheyโ and buy them a beverage. Weโll take all the trophies like normal, just sayโn. AF rules.
I also wanted to correct last monthโs trivia. My bad. The question was: On the TV show Emergency, was there a โrealโ fireman on the TV show? The second question should have been: Why was Engine 51โs driver real?
The answers were: Yes. The Fire Department didnโt want an actor to drive a rig costing over $100,000, which in the 1970s was a lot of money. Today, they cost around $1 million.
Trivia for this month: On the TV show F-Troop, what was the medicine manโs stage name?
As always,
Your Adj Jeff
Chaplainโs Corner
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the founding of our great country, I would like for all of us to take some time to give thanks for all that our country has given us. Veterans should have a particular reason to be thankful because we have stood with our brothers and sisters in arms as we chose to defend this great nation. So, please take a few minutes to thank God for protecting our great nation and us.
If you would like to learn more about the Bible and enjoy fellowship with other vets and family, I encourage you to join us every 3rd Tuesday at 5:30 for a Bible study here at the VFW.
May God bless,
Chaplain Wayne
Trivia Answer

Auxiliary Notes
Warmer weather has arrived, and I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to all of our volunteers and Auxiliary members who generously give their time and energy to support the VFW and serve our membership.
We are always seeking new members, as well as individuals who feel called to serve. In addition, we welcome volunteers to assist with our Friday night dinners. Your help makes a meaningful difference.
Please mark your calendars for our Annual Golf Outing on August 29, 2026. Sign-up sheets are available with the bartender.
Warm regards,
Anastasia Schue
