Commander’s Notes

Greetings:

As we get closer to Spring with hopefully warmer weather, I hope everyone is doing okay. This winter has been anything but normal with up and down temperatures and lots of snow and ice, it’s hard to stay healthly.

Some of the upcoming events here at the Post are St. Patty’s Day on the 13th of March with corned beef and cabbage and music by Point & Click. Also in March is the nomination of Post officers for the coming year and the election of officers in April. Watch for more events here at the Post.

Our new camera system has been installed thanks to Toby and those helping him. I want to continue to thank all our volunteers and all those that come in to the Post. We need to continue to remember all our veterans and families wherever hey are serving or have served.

Stay safe and healthy. That’s all for now.

God Bless America!
3rd District Meeting on March 1st at 1:00 est at
Mishawaka Post 360.

Your Commander:
George Buckmaster

P.S. Post meetings are now at 4:00 pm on the 2nd Wednesday each month. Please attend if you can!

Adjutant’s Notes

Hey, it’s almost warm out there folks! Well… sort of any-ways. We did have some great weather a week or so ago, and I’m hoping it’ll return and stay. I did want to remind you though; the time change is coming yet again. Really wish the governor would change it back to, not changing it. But when was the last time the gov’t did something we wanted them to do.

Hopefully some of you went to the District-3 meeting, Sun 1 March. Please remember Breakfast Sat, 7 March, 8-11. We also have our annual St Patty’s Day dinner/part-A coming up Sat, 14 March. Come enjoy the festivities when everybody’s Irish. Spring “officially” begins Friday, 20 March. So, we have that to look forward to.

For those of us old enough to remember, Sunday 29 March is Palm Sunday. A date which lives in infamy locally. On Wed, 1 April, don’t forget to not let anybody prank you, unless it’s a really good one. Sat, 4 April is Breakfast again at the V, stop by and buy me breakfast and hang out. I’m up for a good time. Sun, 5 April is Easter and that about wraps it up for April.

I also wanted to thank all the volunteers that make things happen around the V. Alyena and Bo have also been doing a bang-up job. Jan’s been cooking up a storm in the kitchen (where else would she do it?) We’re also having the tile floors stripped and waxed once the weather gets (and stays) nice. We’ll be having some “polishing up” projects going on, trying to keep the place looking great. We’ll also be moving the kitchen stuff around to do a deep cleaning on it too. Please feel free to stop by and help out! We can always use the help.

Well, now for the highly anticipated trivia. In the TV show The Rock-ford Files; 1) what kind of car did he drive (color, year, make, model)? 2) Was it always the same car through the series?

As always, your Adj, Jeff

Chaplain’s Corner

As we look forward to the coming of spring we eagerly anticipate the wormer weather, the new life in the flow-ers and trees. We also look on the time that we can celebrate the greatest proof of New life as pictured in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I hope that as we celebrate the Ester season we reflect on the true meaning of this holiday and we reflect what Jesu’s work on calvary truly means to us personally, I know that my life would have been a tragedy if I had not embraced the cross. If you would like to learn more about the bible and enjoy seet fellowship with other vets and family, I encourage you to join us every 3rd Tuesday at 5:30 for a bible study here at the VFW.

I want that each of you have a blessed Easter in church and with your family.

May GOD bless you all. Chaplain Wayne

Auxiliary Notes

As we welcome a brand-new year, we’d like to thank our members, supporters, and volun-teers for making the past year one filled with camaraderie, service, and dedication to our veterans and community. A new year brings fresh beginnings, new goals, and renewed opportunities to make a difference together.

Many of us are setting New Year’s resolutions—whether it’s spending more time with family, improv-ing our health, or giving back to our community. This year, we invite you to consider add-ing volunteering to your list. The Goshen VFW is always grateful for helping hands, and volunteer-ing on Fridays is a great way to support our post, connect with fellow members, and continue hon-oring those who served. Reach out to Jan Santos or I on how to get involved with Friday dinners if you feel moved to do so!

We are also always looking to grow our VFW family. If you or someone you know is interested in getting involved, we warmly welcome new members to join the Auxiliary. The Auxiliary plays a vital role in supporting veterans, their families, and our community through service, fundraising, and fellowship.

Thank you for being part of the Goshen VFW. We look forward to another year of working together, serving others, and strengthening our community.
Wishing you a happy, healthy, and meaningful New Year!

Warm regards,
Anastasia Schue
